Beatien Yazz (Jimmy Toddy) was one of the more celebrated American Indian painters of the 20th century. His life and works from an early age have been profiled in a series of books. His contributions to American Indian art have also been widely documented in various institutional exhibitions. As well as an accomplished traditional painter, he is the father of some immensely talented artists in their own right (most notably contemporary artist, Irving Toddy). His works are included in such noted museum collections as the Smithsonian Institute (Washington, DC), and the Philbrook Museum of Art (Tulsa, OK). |
