Jane Mauldin was known as one of the
pioneer
transitional painters in American Indian art. Her unique style of
abstract colorism, combined with realist portraiture was unique to
Indian
art in the sixties. Her style has since influenced many noted
artists.
She won numerous awards for her work, and was awarded the status of
Master
Artist by the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in 1997. Her works are
included in such noted museum collections as the Five Civilized Tribes
Museum (Muskogee, OK), and the Philbrook Museum of Art (Tulsa, OK).
