Merlin Little Thunder is generally
considered
the premier miniatures artist in American Indian art today. His
works
are classified into two categories: miniature realism, and
medicine
paintings. The former captures the everyday life of 19th and 20th
century Cheyennes, while the latter captures the mystical side of
Cheyenne
beliefs. He has received several distinctions for his work,
including
a one-man exhibition at the Southern Plains Indian Museum (Anadarko,
OK).
His works have been exhibited at numerous museums and institutions
across
America, and he has been featured in numerous articles in Oklahoma
Today
and Southwest Art magazines.
The Gallery has a very limited number
of original
paintings by Merlin Little Thunder.
