Danny Kaler is a Creek Indian painter from northeast Oklahoma. He originally studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts in the 1960s, and emerged as one of the more gifted painters of the Five Civilized Tribes during the 1970s and 80s. During this time, he won numerous awards from the Five Civilized Tribes Museum. His works were carried by such noted galleries as Via Gambara Gallery (Washington, DC). He is accomplished at traditional, two dimensional painting, as well as realism. His paintings have been exhibited in such noted institutions as the Cherokee National Museum (Tahlequah, OK), the Bath House Cultural Center (Dallas, TX), and the Philbrook Museum of Art (Tulsa, OK). |
