Rance Hood (b. 1941) is one of the most important progressive traditional painters in 20th century Indian art. His works capture traditional life of the Southern Plains Indians, but with a vivid sense of motion and color. His style has had a significant effect on contemporary Southern Plains Indian art. His artistic career is documented in the book "Rance Hood - Mystic Painter" and has been exhibited in museums across the country. His works are included in the permanent collection of such noted insitutions as the Fred Jones Museum (Norman, OK), the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum (Canyon, TX), and the Denver Art Museum (Denver, CO). |
