Neil David, Sr. (b. 1944) is widely considered to be among the most influential and important Hopi artists today. As well as a distinguished painter, he is very well known for his kachina carvings. A founding member of Artist Hopi, his work documents the Hopi culture with amazing clarity and detail. His paintings and carvings of koshares are more whimsical and lighthearted, and have become immensely popular with collectors. His works are widely published and included in museum collections worldwide, including the Kashiwagi Museum (Takeshina, Japan) and the Heritage Center (Pine Ridge, SD). |
